  • Additional information

Flatbed semi-trailers are designed for transportation of various cargoes: building materials, machinery, products of industrial enterprises.

Key features:

  • Hinged sides, aluminum or steel, from 40 to 100 cm high, with drawbars.
  • Front wall made of steel, aluminum or laminated plywood.
  • Laminated plywood flooring, steel or aluminum flooring (optional).
  • Lifting rings for unfastening loads at the base of the platform.
  • Tool box and basket for two spare wheels.
  • Side protection, plastic fenders and reflective markings.
  • Pallet box (optional).

The front wall is reinforced to eliminate the possibility of damage to the cab during emergency braking, which can cause the load to shift. Boards and racks are quick-detachable, they can be quickly dismantled for loading / unloading goods.

The design of the flatbed semi-trailer  is based on a reliable and durable frame, spar type, with cross members. Before painting and priming, the metal structure of the frame is shot-blasted. The chassis of the semi-trailer is equipped with a 3-axle bogie with air suspension and disc or drum brakes.

To fix the semi-trailer in a horizontal position in the parking lot, the chassis is equipped with retractable support legs.

For the transportation of pipes or rolled metal, onboard platforms can be equipped with horses.

The flatbed semi-trailer is the simplest vehicle for transporting goods. Flatbed semi-trailers are used for transportation of long cargoes, rolled metal and are convenient for loading and unloading operations.

Design and technical equipment of a flatbed semi-trailer

The structure of the flatbed semi-trailer consists of a welded ladder-type frame made of high-strength alloy steel. To give additional strength and wear resistance, the frame is processed in 3 stages: it is shot-blasted, primed and painted with enamel.

The chassis is equipped with a three-axle axle unit SAF INTRADISC with disc brakes, which ensures the adaptation of the semi-trailer to uneven roads, good shock absorption, and is also reliable and safe during emergency braking. Its air suspension is designed specifically for the operation of trailers in difficult road conditions.

Disc brakes provide precise control over the movement of the brake pads and the transfer of the necessary force for safe and smooth braking. Six 22.5-inch tires from a European manufacturer and one spare wheel provide even more traction and dampening of small bumps without the need for suspension.

The chassis is equipped with JOST mechanical supports or its European counterparts, the total load capacity is 24 tons. The chassis is also equipped with plastic fenders with mudguards that protect the body of the semi-trailer from dirt and splashes. There is an aluminum side guard to prevent damage to the frame. Under the semi-trailer frame there is a basket for two spare wheels. There is a waterproof plastic box on the frame for transporting tools. For ease of access to the body, a retractable ladder is installed. In accordance with safety requirements, a rear underrun bar is placed.

The semi-trailer is equipped with the WABCO EBS brake system in accordance with European regulations. The EBS system performs an electro-pneumatic function that regulates the pressure and also adapts the braking forces to different driving situations. This system has an integrated anti-lock function - ABS, which analyzes the speed of the wheels and determines if any of them have a tendency to block, and accordingly calculates the required amount of brake pressure.

The pneumatic suspension of the semi-trailer automatically sets the transport position.

Boards and interior trim

Semi-trailers are equipped with tailgates with drawbars and a front wall made of steel, aluminum or laminated plywood. The front wall is reinforced to eliminate the possibility of damage to the cab during emergency braking, which can cause the load to shift. Boards and racks are quick-detachable, they can be quickly dismantled for loading / unloading goods.

The flooring of the semi-trailer is made of moisture-resistant, durable bakelite plywood, the thickness of which is 27 millimeters. The floor covering is wear-resistant, dense and durable, withstands the load of forklifts of 7000 kg. When braking or turning at sufficient speed, the load is subject to inertia. Lifting rings are used to securely fasten the load to the floor of the curtain side semi-trailer.

The flatbed semi-trailer is equipped with a 15-pin socket and two 7-pin sockets for lighting fixtures.

Docking a semi-trailer with a tractor

For strong and reliable docking with the tractor, a fifth wheel coupling is used. A good hitch affects vehicle handling, roadholding, maneuverability, road response, fuel economy, safety and many other performance characteristics.

Due to its design, the semi-trailer evenly distributes the weight of the load over the entire wheelbase: its own and the tractor. The correct and even distribution of the weight of the load over the space of the semi-trailer is important not only for its efficient use, but also for overload protection. The distribution of the weight of the load allows avoiding overweight on one of the sides and, as a result, tipping over of the semi-trailer, as well as excessive load on one of the chassis axles. When transporting long pipes or rolled metal, the semi-trailer platform must be equipped with conics - U-shaped welded steel structures.
